Learn to Sail
Raglan Sailing Club is offering a six-session Learn to Sail (LTS) Level 1 Programme for children who are keen to get on the water and learn the basics of sailing.
The programme provides an introduction to sailing in a safe, supportive and fun environment, with sessions covering basic sailing skills, boat handling, rigging and launching, sailing terminology, points of sail and manoeuvres, safety, capsize awareness, knots and seamanship, and care of boats.
Sunday 11 October – 9:45 am–12:15 pm
Sunday 1 November – 2:15–4:45 pm
Sunday 15 November – 1:15–3:45 pm
Sunday 29 November – 1:00–3:30 pm
Sunday 13 December – 12:00–2:30 pm
Sunday 27 December – 12:00–2:30 pm
What to bring:
Wetsuit or suitable clothing for being in the water
Non-slip shoes suitable for wearing in the water
Sunscreen
Sun hat
Towel
Water bottle and snack
Warm/dry clothing
Lifejackets/PFDs will be required while sailing, which can be provided by the club.
Sailing helmet and gloves may also be worn if desired
Sessions may be adjusted depending on weather, wind, tide and water conditions. Where conditions are unsuitable for sailing, activities may be moved ashore.
Cost: $120 per child for all six sessions.
Places are limited, based on the YNZ coaching/supervision requirements.
Membership & registration
Children participating in the programme, or their family, should be Raglan Sailing Club members.

Once your place is confirmed, payment can be made by bank transfer using the same payment process and bank details as club membership.
Places are limited, so early registration is recommended.
NOTE: The Parent/Guardian Risk Acknowledgement and Consent Form must be read and acknowledged before participation.
Parents/guardians do not need to remain at the club during the session. If a parent/guardian will be absent, they must nominate an adult responsible for their child during the session. This can be the LTS coach.
